3D Rendering modeled in Revit showing track lighting detail and biophilic materiality of finishes.
Description:
A new model for an art center in downtown Toronto that provides affordable temporary housing and studio space for professional artists under one roof. Resident artists past and present utilize the gallery to produce group shows, solo shows, and special events for the general public.
Echoing the hand-crafted touch of the artworks on display, the gallery frames ever-changing exhibitions with a strategic layout for wall-based media and free-standing media. The space can be divided to maximize exposure for more than one artist with breathing space in between.
Museum grade track LED track lighting supports targeted illumination to all planes. While ceramic tiles ground the space and enhance user comfort with low reflectivity and warm tonality. Reclaimed Douglas-fir pine ceiling panels offset acoustic volume in this high traffic space and add visual interest that mimics the structure of a loom.
